When the Greenbrier boys soccer team opens its season this week, they’ll already be one player short.
Freshman midfielder Ethan Smith will be in San Jose, Costa Rica, for a week beginning Thursday as a part of the Georgia Olympic Development Team. Smith, who is on the team for a third year, was among 40 players selected out of a group of over 200 14-year-olds to be part of the all-region team.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Smith. “It’s a very prestigious thing to be chosen to go so I’m just going to take full advantage of it.”
