Former Lakeside standout Stephon Houzah opened his college career with an outstanding performance as his Mercer Bears crushed Austin Peay 28-7. The reigning Columbia County Player of the Year started at defensive back and was a key to holding Austin Peay to one lone touchdown.
Houzah finished second on the team with six tackles and also served as punt returner but managed only one return for two yards. Houzah was a heralded recruit for Mercer and
it looks like their hard work pursuing him is going to pay off. They have a cornerstone for their defense for the next three years.
