Ashley Brown: Farrar off to solid start in college

Posted: December 27, 2016 - 11:37pm

A year ago Kwajelin Farrar shared County Player of the Year honors with her Grovetown teammate Destiny Marshall. She averaged only 10.6 points per game, but she dominated the glass to the tune of nearly 14 rebounds per game. She also led the county in blocks and snagged 3.6 steals per game. She showed drastic improvement the final year and a half of her prep career, and the college coaches took notice.

Farrar had offers from more than a half-dozen schools before choosing to stay close to home and play for USC Aiken. The 6-foot-1 Farrar has started her college career in outstanding fashion. Through the Lady Pacers' first 10 games, Farrar has established herself as one of the team's key players. She is second on the team in scoring at 10.6 points per outing. She also leads the team in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game and boasts the squad's best field goal percentage at 64.7 percent from the floor.

The scary part is that Farrar is doing this while playing just 21.4 minutes per game. Farrar seems to be getting better and better each time she takes the floor. USC Aiken might have gotten a monster recruiting steal in this young post player. She has All-Conference and possibly All-American status in her future.
