Another fun and exciting year of youth football is winding down for the Columbia County Recreation Department. For three age groups,
that means playoff time.
Each age division’s playoff bracket includes semifinal round play Wednesday at Blanchard Park and will culminate with a big “Day of Championships” on Saturday at Grovetown High School.
Here is a breakdown of each age group.
Bantam Boys (9-year-olds)
Regular season champion – Colts (10-0)
Head coach: Dewayne Lowe
Semifinals: Wednesday 6 p.m. at Blanchard Park
Field 2: Colts (10-0, first-round bye) vs. TBA
Field 3: Chiefs (8-2, first-round bye) vs. TBA
Bantam Boys (10-year-olds)

Semifinals Wednesday 7 p.m. at Blanchard Park
Field 2: Jets (9-1, first- round bye) vs. TBA
Field 3: Bills (8-2, first-round bye) vs. TBA
Old Midget Boys (11-12-year-olds)
Regular season champion – Redskins (7-0)
Head coach: Gary Yates
Semifinals Wednesday 8 p.m. at Blanchard Park
Field 2: TBA
Field 3: TBA
In the 11-12-year-old division there were eight teams, so no team had a bye for round one.
Championship Saturday schedule
All games at Grovetown High School
10 a.m.: 9-year-olds
11:30 a.m.: 10-year-olds
1 p.m.: 11-12-year-olds
Admission to games is free with the donation of a canned good benefiting Columbia County Cares Food Pantry.
