Columbia County teams hope to bounce back after tough week

Posted: October 6, 2015 - 11:08pm  |  Updated: October 7, 2015 - 12:10am

Last Week: 3-1

Season Total: 29-5

Evans showed some fight in a near upset of Warner Robins, but came up just short 21-19. Hopefully the game proved to the kids that, when they play up to their potential, they can compete with anyone. Overall, it was a tough week for teams in Columbia County as our schools went 0-4 on Friday night. Augusta Christian’s game at Pinewood Prep was moved to Oct. 13 due to the inclement weather in South Carolina.

This Week’s Picks:

Evans (2-4, 1-4) Off this week, they play at ARC on Oct. 16

Lakeside (2-4, 2-3) Off this week, they host Grovetown on Oct. 16

Greenbrier (1-4, 0-4) at Grovetown (3-2, 2-2)

Last Week: Both teams were idle

Last Meeting: Grovetown won 48-28 last year

All-Time: Grovetown leads the series 4-1

Grovetown is looking for their third region win, while the Pack would love to play the role of spoiler. Grovetown is simply the better team and should get the victory.

Grovetown 38, Greenbrier 13

Harlem (2-4, 1-1)
at Dublin (4-2, 0-2)

Last Week: Harlem lost to Screven County 41-0 / Dublin fell to Jefferson County 20-13

Last Meeting: Dublin won a year ago 48-16

All-Time: Dublin leads the series 3-0

Harlem was overmatched last week versus a much larger Screven Co. squad. The Bulldogs were giving up 40-60 lbs. a man up front and just could not stop the Gamecocks ground attack. Well, Dublin might not be quite as big as Screven, but they are just as good, which means this will be a tough one for the Bulldogs.

Dublin 34, Harlem 9

Augusta Christian (1-5, 0-3) at Heathwood Hall
(0-6, 0-6)

Last Week: Both teams had their games postponed

Augusta Christian plays at Pinewood Prep and Heathwood will play Porter Gaud on Oct. 13

Last Meeting: Heathwood won 14-13 last year

All-Time: Augusta Christian leads the series 7-4

A matchup of two teams in desperate need of a win. It looks like an even match up on paper, so I will go with the home team, but I hope I am wrong.

Heathwood Hall 16, Augusta Christian 14

Augusta Prep (3-3, 0-1) at Augusta Eagles (0-5, 0-2)

Last Week: Prep lost to Gatewood 21-7 / The Eagles were idle

Last Meeting: Prep won 40-20 last year

All-Time: Augusta Prep leads the series 2-0

Augusta Prep’s ground attack will be a little too much for the Home School Eagles. The Cavaliers will likely be able to take out a little frustration coming off last week’s loss.

Augusta Prep 37,
Augusta Eagles 6
