Augusta Christian golfer Sarah Harrison is flanked by her parents Becky and Buddy Harrison as she signs to play for Seminole State College.

While she still has the South Carolina Independent School Association boys golf season to go, Sarah Harrison firmed up her future after high school on Friday.

While showing more nerves than she’s exhibited out on the course, Harrison still had a steady hand while stepping to a desk in the school’s library, signing to play women’s golf with Seminole State College (Sanford, Fla.).

“I really liked it,” Harrison said of the campus. “The coach was really nice and the apartments were nice and the team, I think, we would get along well.”

Harrison already has a full resume from the 2014-15 school year. At the end of September she played in the Champions Tour’s Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in California, then was low medalist at the SCISA state girls golf tournament at the end of October. Golf Coach Terry Rutherford was impressed with what his senior’s been able to achieve.

“She’s the first female from Augusta Christian to get a golf scholarship so that’s a big deal,” Rutherford said. “I’m very proud of her. She’s one of the hardest working golfers I’ve ever had. I know she’s going to do very, very well in the future at Seminole State and I look forward to seeing all the things that come out of her while she’s there.”

The Lady Raiders compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and were 2013-14 national runners-up. It doesn’t hurt that coach Christa Teno was an LPGA Tour player.

“Maybe she can give me some guidance on what the next step is and stuff,” said Harrison.
