East Georgia Pop Warner football is heading to camp before it officially starts practice on Aug. 1.
On Friday and Saturday, Grovetown High School is the location for the second of its camps during the week.
The EGPW Second Annual Local Heroes Football Camp will feature former Westside High School Patriot, University of Georgia Bulldog and current Kansas City Chief Sanders Commings.
Starting off the week on Monday is the Greenbrier High School and Greenbrier Pop Warner and Ryan Bowers Speed, Agility and Tackling Clinic. It’s free to those 5 to 15 years of age from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Greenbrier High School.
Open to the same age group and limited to the first 100 registrants (eastgeorgiapopwarner.com), the EGPW camp on Friday runs from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. and concludes Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp was originally $100 but was reduced to $50.
“The priority was to give kids a summer opportunity and make it fun and affordable for families,” said Andrea Smock, East Georgia Pop Warner president, who was excited that Commings would be participating.
The camp, run by ATHELITE Sports Training Academy, will provide a camp T-shirt and an autograph session following the conclusion of Saturday’s proceedings.
