Trying to improve his game heading into his senior year at Lakeside High School, Stephen Houzah will be keeping the right company this weekend.
An all-around athlete for the Panthers, Houzah is attending the inaugural Prime 21 Camp powered by Under Armour in Dallas, Texas. from June 27-29 in Dallas, Texas. He’s expecting to rub elbows with the likes of the Arizona Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson, not to mention the host, Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders.
“I’m real excited, I look up to them,” Houzah said.
Houzah was an explosive player for the Panthers in 2013 and was First Team All-Region and All-County listed as an athlete. He had 57 tackles and five interceptions (one for a touchdown); as a receiver he caught 16 passes for 235 yards and two TDs; he rushed for 113 yards and a TD on 13 carries and had four kickoff return touchdowns.
The camp promises an immersive experience and to develop dynamic athletes on and off the field through Preparation, Rersponsibility, Intelligence, Management and Expectation (PRIME).
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Houzah will be one of only 21 defensive backs competing on a daily basis in 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 competitions against 21 wide receivers and six quarterbacks from across the country. There are two main things he is expecting to take away from the weekend.
“Exposure and just some techniques that I can use use throughout the season,” Houzah said.
