The Greenbrier High School Wolfpack boys golf team earned a free pass to the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA state tournament for the second consecutive year.
After winning the 2013 Region 2-AAAAA tournment, the Wolfpack equaled that feat on their home course at Bartram Trail Monday, firing a region-low 1-over 289.Lakeside (295) and Evans (321) finished second and third, respectively, advancing to the sectional round which will be held at the White Oak Golf Club in Newnan, Ga. on May 5.
The Wolfpack were led by sophomore States Fort, the tournament's low medalist, who carded a 2-under 70, followed at 1-under by Tyler Barker. Zack Tully and Alex Wells each scored a 2-over 74 to round out the scoring.
For the Panthers, Hunter Dunagan was low man with an even-par 72, Isaac Hergott and Franklin Perhonish recorded 2-over 74s and Joseph Kim finished at 3-over 74.
Individually, Lakeside's Megan Sabol qualified for the sectionals as the girls low medalist, shooting an even-par 72, while Greenbrier's Macy Cochran qualified with her 9-over 81. The girls play at the Seminole Canongate I Golf Club - Lee in Sharpsburg, Ga. on May 5.
