It was a good day for the Lakeside High School Panthers at the Nike Panther Relays at Starr’s Mill High School on Saturday.
On a day when rain washed away most meets county teams were scheduled to participate in, the Lakeside girls team,
currently ranked seventh in Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA, finished 11th out of 27 teams while the boys placed 20th.
For the girls, Ashlan Rosier jumped to second in the state across all classifications with a winning long jump of 18-10.75. She also set a personal best and school record with a 12.07 in the 100 meter dash, ranking her in second in Class AAAAA, according to head coach Josh Ingram.
In the hurdles, Heather Hammet took two top-10 finishes, grabbing seventh (48.23) in the 300 hurdles and eighth (17.32) in the 100 hurdles.
In distance events, Lara Way was third (11:42.96) in the 3200, Alyssa Hooker was sixth (5:30.67) in the 1600 and the girls 4x800 relay team of Way, Jasmine Payne, Hannah Marionneaux and Grace Huber finished fifth (10:31.37).
For the boys, Christian Bowles won the 1600 (4:26.15) and owns the No. 1 time in the 3200 and the second-best time in the 1600 in AAAAA.
