Martinez Evans Little League is still feeling the effects of the recent ice storm that blanketed the area.

“Both our Crawford and Kelley parks sustained extremely heavy damage,” said MELL president Carroll Proctor. “Heavy wind and falling trees destroyed the scoreboard, fence and damaged the buildings at Kelley while Crawford sustained field damage and frozen pipes in our newly renovated concessions/restrooms building.”

“Right now, the volunteers could use some community assistance to get the parks back to playable condition before our season starts.”

Proctor asks that those willing to donate time or materials contact him at www.mellbaseball.org or (706) 736-3110. Proctor added they are in dire need of immediate fencing expertise to help put the fields back together.

Registration is still open online at www.mellbaseball.org, and on Sunday, March 2, there will be a final live sign-up event at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Augusta Mall.
