With the varsity basketball seasons winding down, public and private middle school and junior varsity teams completed their championships.

While the Greenbrier High School varsity team earned a No. 1 seed in its region tournament, the JV proved to be just as talented at its level, winning the Columbia County JV championship.

At Augusta Christian, the Lions (17-2) avenged two losses to Hammond during the regular season with a 42-40 win on Feb. 5 to take the South Carolina Independent School I-AAA Region Championship.

At Augusta Prep, the Cavaliers made school history by winning the CSRA Private Middle School Basketball League and Tournament for the first time. The Cavaliers lost one regular season game to St. Mary’s of Augusta by 24 points, but beat them 39-38 in the title match.
