In a room was filled with close friends, family and teammates Cassandra Wade, a senior at Lakeside High School, was nervous but ready to sign her future away to play soccer at a collegiate level with Columbus State University.
“Being able to continue doing what I love and just having the opportunity to have a scholarship there is just a really, really great thing,” Wade said.
Wade, who has stepped foot onto Columbus State University’s campus, said she likes that the campus is really small and close to everything.
Wade said she plans to major in exercise science when she leaves in the fall and also plans on staying for the entire all four years while she’s there.
“It’s a really great school and I’m just really proud to be able to say I’m going there,” Wade said.
Lori Callaway, Wade’s mother, said she was excited for her daughter and her choice for Columbus State.
“It’s a really good college they have a excellent soccer program,” Callaway said. “She’s looking forward to it.”
Nick Edmond, Lakeside High School soccer coach, said Wade has been the leading scorer for the past two years and she’s really stepped up and done very well.
“I know she’s going to make a big impact at Columbus State,” Edmond said. “I know her coach he’s excited to have her there and I know she’s going to do well as well.”
