Columbia County golfers helped lead the East team to victory at the 40th Annual Georgia State Golf Association Junior Sectional Challenge Match July 22-23.
Players earned points throughout the summer in GSGA junior sectional program events to earn the opportunity to play in two girls and three boys age categories.
In Statham, Ga., the East team, coached by Wade Marchman, scored 51.5 points. The closest of their six competitors from the state – the West – came in with 40.75 points.
The win was the eighth for the East in the history of the tournament.
States Fort of Evans shot even-par 144 to win the boys 14-15 age group while Augusta’s Harry Jones took first in the boys 11 and under with a 1-over 71.
