It was a week to remember for Grovetown High School’s Danielle Reynolds.
You know it’s been good when playing a practice round at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley and attending a dinner where Jack Nicklaus is the guest speaker are just in the running for the best thing to have happened.
Tuesday, the Lady Warriors senior golfer shot an 88 in the Region 2-AAAAA golf regional and qualified for the state tournament as the low medalist on a noncompeting team.
Wednesday, Reynolds took care of her future as she signed her letter of intent to play golf for Division II Erskine College in Due West, S.C.
Reynolds visited the school a year and a half ago and was sold.
“It was close-knitted and small and it was just like a warm vibe, and the golf program fit how I play,” Reynolds said.
Grovetown coach Dottie Knox called her a team leader and thought she would fit in well at Erskine.
“I think she’s going to be a great teammate to the other people at Erskine,” said Knox. “She’s going to have to continue to practice, but she’s definitely got the potential and I think Erskine’s going to be a great place for her to be able to really hone her skill and get better than she already is.”
The school’s location also played a part in Reynolds’ decision. “I’m not that close, but I’m not that far so if I wanted to come home to visit it wouldn’t be that big of a hassle.”
