Those looking to help a good cause can get something tangible in return at Evans Towne Center Park on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Champions Made From Adversity, which works to advance the lives of people with physical disabilities and their families through sports and leisure activities, will hold its second annual Chilly Chili Cook Off.
The cook-off, presented by Fairway Ford, runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 per person at the gate and children 12 and under are free. Expect to sample numerous types of chili as 26 cooks have registered with more expected by event day.
There will be a showmanship award for the best-decorated booth, and those sampling the chili will determine the best cook.
“We ask that patrons come ready to vote for their favorite “people’s choice” chili by dropping money into their favorite team’s jar,” said Jeff Snover, CMFA founder and chairman. “All money donated comes straight to CMFA to support our programs for people with disabilities.”
In addition to the chili, the group’s annual fundraiser will feature live entertainment and CMFA exhibitions.
“We have three bands lined up, two of which are “Best of Augusta” bands,” Snover said. “Our Augusta Bulldogs wheelchair basketball team and Rollin Maddogs wheelchair rugby teams will be on hand doing demonstrations throughout the day as well.”
