Four Columbia County harriers made the 2012 All-State team Saturday at the Class AAAAA Cross Country Championships.
Lakeside’s Chase Fowers led the boys contingent, finishing the 5K in third place with a time of 16:54.28.
Evans’ Justin Weegar, who won the Region 2-AAAAA title the week before, took fifth in 17:03.
Greenbrier was the county’s top team finisher, finishing fourth
overall behind McIntosh, Flowery Branch and Pope.
The Wolfpack were led by two All-State performers, seventh-place finisher Logan Hughes (17:04.53) and ninth-place finisher Jon Townsend (17:13.27).
Also scoring for the Wolfpack were Michael Montesclaros (24th-17:52.81), Scott Bisch (54th-18:27.30) and
John Chaknis (58th-18:31.31).
The Lakeside boys finished seventh and Evans placed 27th.
For the girls, Lakeside’s Sarah Bowles led her team to a fifth-place finish, coming in 13th with a time of 20:47.77.
She finished one spot ahead of Houston County’s Megan Asadian, who had won the Region 2-AAAAA individual title.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Panthers were Jasmine Payne (21:41.78) in 35th and Hannah Marionneaux (21:42.50) in 36th, followed by Jenny Lind (51st-22:04.08) and Grace Huber (72nd-22:33.37).
The Evans girls finished in 17th place, paced by Jasmine Stone’s 45th-place finish in 21:59.39. Greenbrier came in 19th, led by Laura Schillingsburg’s finish at No. 20 in 21:12.04.
