Ebony Upton (center) was named the Greenbrier High School homecoming queen during halftime of the game against Lakeside. Amanda Freeman (left) was second runner-up and Briana Blair was first runner-up.

Ebony Upton can add one more item to her stacked Greenbrier High School resume – homecoming queen.

The Greenbrier senior, who plans to major in biology at Kennesaw State University and is the student leader of the MedPack for football, was selected as homecoming queen from a field of 10 candidates at halftime of Greenbrier’s homecoming game against Lakeside Friday night.

After her name was announced, drawing loud cheers, 2011 homecoming queen Reyna Walker made it official by placing a tiara on Upton’s head.

“It feels amazing, I feel love from everybody, said Upton after posing for pictures with first runner-up Briana Blair and second runner-up Amanda Freeman.

“I was very surprised. I was not expecting to win it all.”

Blair said she was happy to just be a member of the homecoming court.

“I’m so surprised, it’s such an honor,” said Blair. “I just want to say thanks. It’s awesome.”

Freeman was feeling good and was especially happy for Upton.

“She’s so sweet to everyone,” said Freeman. “Everyone just loves her.”
