Martinez-Evans Little League teams showed what they were made of in postseason play.
MELL began with eight All-Star teams and wound up winning three District Six championships.
Two teams competed in the 7-8 machine pitch tournament and three teams competing in the 9-10 age division.
The 7-8 machine pitch Nationals started things off, beating the Masters City Little League’s (MCLL) gray and white teams. The Nationals then knocked off the MELL Americans and defeated MCLL White, 19-4, on June 20 to win the title.
The 10-11 Nationals rolled through their competition, posting a 4-1 victory before defeating Masters City, 15-3, Thursday night for the championship.
On June 27, the defending junior league baseball team won its second consecutive district championship by scoring three runs with two outs in the seventh inning to beat Elbert County, 4-2.
MELL’s other two competing divisions, the 9-10s and senior league teams each had a team advance to the championship round before being eliminated.
