Former Evans High School tennis player Taylor Powell recently signed his letter of intent to play for Division II Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.

“The team was really nice and they took me in and welcomed me, and I liked the campus also,” said Powell. “Mostly it was the sincerity of the coaches and players.”

While he plays tennis, he is a sports fan in general, and hopes majoring in mass communications will lead to his dream job.

“I hope to one day be a commentator for sports on ESPN,” Powell said. “Hopefully, it’s realistic, but we’ll see where it goes.”

He won’t have to worry about not knowing anybody. He will join Greenbrier’s Katie Krupp, who he trains with, at the school and his friend Alex Nolley from Atlanta whom he knows from tournaments.

“I’m hoping that me and him can help the team just have a nice winning season and go to conference and do good in conference,” Powell said.
