Coach Daniel and 10 members of the Screaming Devil weightlifting team traveled to Hawkinsville, Ga., Saturday to compete in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association meet to determine the GACA class A state championship. Six Warren County athletes returned home wearing medals after placing in their individual weight classes.

Rictavious Jones placed sixth in the 140 & below class. Octavious Jackson came in seventh in the 206-225 weight class. Antavious Howell placed fifth in the 226-245 weight category. Warren County scored their highest finish of the day with Noah Lewis placing 3rd in the 226-245 class. Two Screaming Devils placed in the 246-unlimited weight class with Cortez Wentz coming in 5th and Jeffery Gilyard placing 4th.

Coach Daniel was pleased with the performance of his team. “We had a young team and still placed well in many categories. This was a great learning experience and we expect to do even better next year”, stated Daniel.

Claxton High School won the overall title for the meet and were crowned the 2012 GACA state champions.
