Dale Earnhardt Jr. is coming to Evans on Saturday.
Voted nine times by NASCAR fans as their favorite, the 37-year-old driver often simply referred to as Dale Jr. will zoom into the Lady Antebellum Pavilion at Evans Towne Center Park at 11 a.m., said Daniel Eubanks, director of motorsports for online tax preparation service TaxSlayer.
“It should be a pretty cool deal,” Eubanks said.
The event, to showcase TaxSlayer’s sponsorship of Earnhardt’s JR Motorsports’ NASCAR racers, will take place within a few hundred feet of the new five-story TaxSlayer headquarters under construction across the street at Marshall Square.
Organizers, including country radio station Kicks 99, also are hoping to bring in a country music group to perform briefly before and after Earnhardt’s visit, Eubanks said.
While at the amphitheater, Earnhardt is expected to show off a TaxSlayer logo race car, speak from the stage and answer questions from the audience. Afterward, fans lucky enough to receive a limited number of wristbands will be able to enter a private autograph session, Eubanks said.
Wristbands will be available via a drawing from entries at local Rhodes-Murphy tax preparation offices, including the one at 610 Ronald Reagan Drive, and through Kicks 99. Fans can also submit questions for Earnhardt to be drawn at the event, and register to win NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Race tickets, Eubanks said.
All told, Earnhardt is expected to appear “25 to 30 minutes,” Eubanks said. Access to the event is free.
