As election day grows closer, the polls show the race is a close one.

The selection of our next president may very well determine the future of our country. Those whose vote will be motivated by race, entitlements and the need to show an integrated government – think about it.

In 2008 a president was elected with no economic or military experience. He is the product of Chicago politics, a community organizer, a first-term senator. His cry was one of “change.” The economy? Employment? Tax reform?

I hope Columbia county District 1 residents do not pass up the opportunity to vote in a man of integrity to represent them on the school board. An experienced attorney willing to serve as their school board advocate is a blessing, and will yield results for the education of their community in a paramount way.

I support of David Dekle for the District 1 School Board seat.

As a parent of four children in the Columbia County school system, I can’t stress enough the importance of electing the right individual to this seat. David Dekle is that person. David is a man of integrity. He means what he says and does what he says he is going to do. I have had the opportunity to see this first-hand, working with him on the board of the Augusta Rescue Mission. David is a successful small business owner who understands what it means to work within a budget to get things accomplished.

I have known Carolyn Chase since she was the leader of our PTSO at River Ridge Elementary several years ago. She has spent more than 10 years acting both as a PTSO/PTA president at two of our schools (Riverside Middle and River Ridge Elementary), and she has also been very active in the schools as a parent. She has a child in middle school as well as high school.
