Letter: Thank you Columbia County voters

Posted: November 20, 2016 - 1:34am

Dear Columbia County Voters,

What an impressive and exciting General Election Columbia County had! While we didn't break any records - we did have an 80.2% turnout - which is remarkable.

I cannot begin to properly and adequately thank all the people who made this election a success; it was most certainly a group effort! From moving the early voting out of our main office to Building G3 and all the additional signage; to the hardworking, helpful and cheerful early/advance voting staff, to all the Election Day poll workers and student poll workers - I say THANK YOU!

To the wonderful County employees from various departments that did whatever they could to support us; our awesome Information Technology team, the hardworking Roads and Bridges teams that delivered our election equipment, the 3-1-1 staff who assisted our department answering phone calls, the staff in the Extension Office who printed all the early voting applications, the teams in Procurement and Finance, and the ever so dedicated men and women of the Sheriff's Office - are just a few departments that played an important role in this election - I say THANK YOU!

To Jarthurlynn, Butler, Jena, and Hope - the fulltime Board of Elections office staff - and the many, many temporary personnel who worked behind the scenes - I say THANK YOU!

Lastly, to the voters in our great County - whether you voted early or on Election Day - you showed up with a positive and appreciative spirit and for that I say THANK YOU!

- Nancy Gay

Sweet son

To Nancy

As a Columbia County voter I want to say thanks to you and all of the people who made the election a great success and a seamless process.

Also, to all of the voters who made the effort and took the time to exercise a right given to us by our forefathers.

A timeless tragedy put you into a difficult position but you stepped up and did a tremendous job.

Thanks,

Sweet son
