Lake is more fun with water in it

Editor:

My name is Jacob Varner, age 13, Star rank with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 122, in Evans. Our local scout camp is Knox, which is located at Clarks Hill Lake.

The activities there would not be as fun when the lake levels are low, but when they are normal, it is a lot of fun.

Also, it is much more enjoyable when I camp with my family and when we go boating. I hope the Corps of Engineers will keep it at a good level in the future.

Little Lamb

If you see it in the News-Times, it is so.

Jacob, you are now old enough to know the truth that the Corps of Engineers is not Santa Claus. The Corps does not care about your sense of joy. They do not care one whit whether you and other CSRA citizens have fun at the lake. Corps employees responsible for flow rates through the dam have no interest in maintaining “it at a good level in the future.”

There are three kinds of people: Those who make things happen; those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened. Corps of Engineers employees at Strom Thurmond Dam are happy to merely watch things happen and don't want to be bothered with managing anything.
