Rescue's closure is sad for homeless pets

Posted: March 3, 2013 - 1:06am

Editor:

I am so sorry that the CSRA Happy Tails rescue group is being closed down by the state of Georgia.

Barbara Gleitsmann and her volunteers have worked so hard to help hundreds, perhaps thousands, of homeless pets, even taking more than 900 or so from Columbia County Animal Services.

I have known Barbara for several years when she brought many animals for adoption on NBC Augusta and then WJBF, where I am now the adopt-a-pet coordinator.

This is so sad for many homeless pets who will never have a chance to find a forever home or to escape being euthanized.

Little Lamb

Hoarding

She just got overzealous and boarded too many animals on too small a parcel of land. Moderation would be better.
