Support helped agency provide Thanksgiving meals

Posted: November 28, 2012 - 12:05am

This year, Columbia County Cares was extremely blessed in the support we received from numerous individuals, companies, organizations, schools, community groups and our 23 partner churches.

In addition to our regular food distributions in October and November, Columbia County Cares was able to provide 516 families a Thanksgiving package complete with turkey or two chickens. Each package had the ingredients to prepare a meal to feed a Thanksgiving dinner to four to six people. Through this effort we were able to provide a Thanksgiving meal to more than 2,000 individuals.

It could not have been possible without the outpouring of community support we received. I would like to personally thank all of the volunteers who put in countless hours to make this happen. Columbia County Cares is a food distribution pantry serving qualified families in Columbia County. We are a partner agency pantry of Golden Harvest Food Bank. Columbia County Cares is 100 percent volunteer operated and 100 percent donation supported.

It would be impossible for me to list in this small space all the agencies, companies, schools, individuals and churches who contributed to this success. All I can say is thank you and God bless you. Many people will have a nice Thanksgiving because of you.
