Vote for Anderson; prove there must be 'principle with politics'

Posted: November 4, 2012 - 12:10am

Editor:

I look in awesome wonder at the criticisms and character attacks heaped upon people who choose to offer themselves for public office. In most cases these attacks are born of absolute lies.

How many of us would wish the same thing on our family and ourselves? What causes people who will never put themselves into a political contest to be so critical of those who try? How many wish to be called a “Honey Boo Boo” and nincompoop, incapable and political bum, and have their family endure the pain of reading such comments?

Lee Anderson and family have endured it all.

He is a man with a college education, a third generation farmer, a successful businessman and a deacon in his church. He is the father of two children, married for 31 years to a wife who devoted her life to education and a better way of life for children.

He is a man elected to the Columbia County Board of Education and the Columbia County Commission, a man elected to the General Assembly of Georgia where he served well. I know; I was there with him.

As to being a great orator, my history books tell me that one of the greatest Americans and wisest of them all, Thomas Jefferson, was lacking in this particular area. Maybe it’s time we send more commonsense Americans to Congress and fewer oratory lawyers.

I ask you, my friends, to go to the polls and prove that there must be principle with politics.

State Sen. Bill Jackson

Jackson and even Broun

are calling phones in support of Anderson. Party is thicker that ethics. Party is everything. Keep those Repub seats and start campaigning and money collections for the next election.

Power, money and influence peddling. Politics at is best. America's demise.

Way to go. Campaigning for the "glory of God". Taking the name of the Lord thy God in vain takes on a whole new meaning.

Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen

To endure such abuse, if it is indeed abuse must hold some large measure of compensation. Now and in the future. Selling oneself and ones family on the public market is like being a media star. Look at me, look at my family, look at my church, like me, spend money on me, but don't look at my private life. Bull.

Politicians are rich and getting richer. And what do they produce? Confusion and loss of freedom. Ever bill and amendment passed reducing the personal freedom of every American in some way. If they legislate control over something, someone has lost control over something.

Jackson on Anderson

Let's avoid the name calling but remember, we're not voting for Mr. Congeniality. Anderson, a Baptist deacon, voted FOR Sunday liquor sales. So much for voting your core beliefs. Why didn't Jackson and the Republican leadership in Atlanta not groom Anderson for the position he now seeks? Although Jackson uses "Thomas Jefferson" and "Lee Anderson" in the same sentence, Anderson is not the intellectual equivalent of Jefferson. He's nowhere close.

Sen. Jackson - nobody likes

Sen. Jackson - nobody likes to be called those names and all Anderson had to do to prove them wrong was put himself in front of the voters and media. He did not have to be eloquent or polished. He just needed to show a basic understanding of the issues and solutions. He chose not to do so.

Phone Calls

Speaking of calls, I even got a phone call from Pat Boone (yes, the singer) expressing support for Lee Anderson.

Nothing About the Issues

Sen. Jackson didn't give any reasons from an issue or policy standpoint to vote for Lee Anderson. The voters noticed this problem, too.

It is called being deceived

" What causes people who will never put themselves into a political contest to be so critical of those who try? "

Maybe we get angry at being promised one thing and seeing Anderson vote the opposite way?
