Two years ago I was the campaign manager for Kristi Baker’s successful run for the District 2 seat on the Columbia County Board of Education. For the same reasons that I endorsed Kristi, I am strongly endorsing David Dekle (for the District 1 seat).
David is a man of intellect, integrity and ingenuity. I have known David and his wife, Pat, for 20 years at First Baptist Church of Augusta, where David serves as a deacon, youth Sunday School teacher, praise band member and one of the core leaders of the Bridge Ministry, a church service for the homeless held each Saturday underneath the 15th Street bridge.
David and Pat have five beautiful children, all students in the Columbia County school system. David is a successful attorney and small business owner who understands the challenges of our economy and has the personality and skills to work with a cross-section of people, including the board, school administrators, faculty and parents to achieve the goals that ultimately benefit our children.
I also encourage District 2 voters to re-elect Trey Allen as county commissioner. Trey is a contradiction to President Obama’s remark, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” Trey didn’t rely on the government to build his business; he did that by taking risks, making personal sacrifices and working long hours. His business experience and commitment to the quality of life in Columbia County are needed as our county faces important growth and fiscal decisions ahead.
As a neighbor, I have seen Trey manage difficult situations with diplomacy and integrity. He is a man of character and honor and ultimately does his best to provide the best for his constituents.
