In the District 1 Columbia County Board of Education race, we will have an opportunity to elect a new board member. When you review the criteria and experience with service in our schools as well as dedication, there is only one choice: Carolyn Chase.
I have known Chase since she was the leader of our PTSO at River Ridge Elementary several years ago. In addition to my observation of her leadership skills she has displayed during her tenure as the President of PTSOs at River Ridge and Riverside Middle schools (a total of seven years), she has worked as a substitute teacher within our system and been a parent volunteer for more than 10 years.
I have had children attend Riverside Middle and my wife worked closely with her as secretary of Riverside’s PTSO as well. During this time she has worked closely with school administration and parents to do things necessary to build stronger schools.
Chase has been a resident of our county for more than 20 years and has children in the county system at Greenbrier High and Riverside Middle. She knows the importance of family values and how these relate to our school system. Chase has spoken with many principals in her District to learn of their needs and concerns. With our schools funding dwindling due to state cuts, she is ready and prepared to make sure our resources for instruction remain as strong as possible with the limited funds.
If you look at the experience and past dedication of the candidates running for District 1, Columbia County Board of Education, there is really only one choice: Carolyn Chase.
