Chris Hudson 'will be fair' as magistrate

Editor:

I would like to endorse Christopher Hudson for our next chief magistrate judge of Columbia County in the forthcoming election on July 31. There are many good candidates, but I believe Chris is the best and here are my reasons why.

Before I could buy my present home in Columbia County, I had to resolve a very complex legal problem with my wife’s property in the Bridlewood subdivision. We needed an attorney and turned to Chris Hudson. He realized the complexity of our situation and referred us to a real-estate attorney, who was able to resolve the issue quickly and completely. We were then able to move to our new home on May 24, 2011.

So what is so special about Chris Hudson if all he did was to make a referral? Chris listened! That’s what a magistrate does. Then he made a proper decision and followed through to be sure all went well.

That’s how Chris will be as a chief magistrate. He will listen; he will gain all the facts; and he will make a proper decision.

Before I retired as a chief probational officer, I served five U.S. magistrates in 50 counties in eastern North Carolina. I know what a magistrate needs to do to make the community safe for law-abiding citizens, and I know what happens when the wrong decisions are made.

Our property values depend upon a safe environment and community. I believe Chris will be fair as a magistrate, but I also believe he will look out for my rights as well as the rights of the person who stands in front of him. We need this kind of man as our chief magistrate in Columbia County.

Please give Chris Hudson your consideration as you vote.

John (Jack) W. Sisson Jr.

Is he aware of highway littering laws?

Obviously not. And the CC BOE says they informed candidates about posting signs on public property. Ignoring the law is not a good start.

I'm sure Mr. Hudson is a nice guy and could do a fine job......

...however, I cannot help but believe his indirect relationship with WGAC (Scott) would hinder or otherwise influence key decisions. Again, I'm sure Chris Hudson is a fine fellow, I'm just not willing to put my faith that he wouldn't be persuaded.
