State agency pre-certifies emergency volunteers

Posted: March 13, 2012 - 11:03pm

Are you prepared if disaster strikes tomorrow? How would you serve your community?

Experience has proven that effective emergency response requires volunteers to be organized and pre-credentialed before a disaster occurs. The State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Georgia (SERVGA) system integrates government-sponsored local, regional and statewide volunteer programs to assist emergency responders and public safety organizations during a disaster.

SERVGA is a statewide secure database of pre-credentialed healthcare professionals and other volunteers who are willing to help when their communities need it most.

Volunteers of all skill levels and backgrounds are needed during an emergency response. Whether you are a licensed and certified healthcare provider, an administrative specialist, or simply someone who wants to help when your neighbors need it most, SERVGA needs you.

SERVGA works closely with federal, state and local programs, including Medical Reserve Corps, Georgia Nurse Alert System, Community Emergency Response Teams, and many more.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with an existing organization in the system, or adding your organization to SERVGA, please visit www.servga.gov.

Sign up to volunteer now to prepare for tomorrow.
