Thank you to the Columbia County community

Posted: November 30, 2014 - 12:16am

Columbia County Cares food pantry was truly blessed this Thanksgiving season with a tremendous outpouring of support from this community. This support allowed us to provide 350 families with a Thanksgiving meal and turkey. Each meal distributed provided the ingredients (cranberries, stuffing, vegetables, corn muffin mix, pumpkin pie filling, broth, and potatoes) to feed a family of five.

This accomplishment was due entirely to community support. Thank you to the many churches that conducted food drives, provided financial support and volunteers. Thank you to the many businesses that sponsored our fundraisers and provided direct financial support. Thank you to the Columbia County schools that held food drives and to the schools’ social workers and counselors, who referred families in need to us. Thank you to the Columbia County Parks and Recreation for your food drives. Thank you to the Appling Fire Station for volunteering to help us unload and distribute the turkeys. Thank you to all the organizations that provided financial support, volunteers and conducted food drives. And, Thank you to all the individuals who volunteered, conducted food drives, and provided financial support.

All of you made this effort a success.
