Prior to 2009, I watched way too much HGTV like a lot of us did back then, and thought, I can flip houses too! How hard can it be!?
Coming from the financial services industry, I was always looking for ways to increase return on investment. So being a semi-natural blonde who lives life in a go big or go home kind of way, I went out and bought two “flip houses.”
About 3 months later, after carrying three mortgages in addition to the renovation costs, I quickly found out, I was in way over my head. Each day the costs got to be more and more, then something that I thought would be small, turned in to a total gut job!
I was at the breaking point, so I called my girlfriend complaining telling her about my situation, and she suggested I call Jim Bartley. I had met him socially once, but didn’t know him at all.
So, I called Jim completely embarrassed, telling him, “I know you don’t know me, but I need your help. And oh yea, I can’t exactly pay you either.”
Without even a moment’s hesitation, Jim came to both of the properties the same day I called him! He quickly figured out exactly what needed to be done and was able to get all the work scheduled and completed. Jim operated quickly and efficiently all while spending as little of my precious pennies as possible.
He literally saved me from what could have been a very serious financial mistake, not for money.
He did it, simply because I needed help. Jim and I have kept in touch over the years and I consider him a friend. He is a good person that believes in helping other good people.
That’s why I think Jim will be the right choice as your next county commission chair. He does the right thing.
