Expecting Barrack Obama and John Kerry to clean up the mess between Russia and Ukraine is like expecting your dog to clean up his, or her, mess in the yard. Now folks, I’ll admit that I’ve been very critical of the Obama administration over the last five years. I reckon I want to see some success, but it’s hard for me to expect it.
In my opinion, Putin has absolutely no fear whatsoever of what Obama and Kerry will do about his show of force against the Ukraine government. Of course, he might make some movement if they decide to send a gang of gay Olympians over there to ask him to please be nice to the Ukrainians.
Obama said that Russia is “on the wrong side of history” (whatever that means – it may have been just an error on the teleprompter). I don’t know a lot, but what I do know is the actions by the Russians at this very moment are on the same side of history as we are.
The President also said that the U.S. is considering economic and diplomatic options that will isolate Russia, and called on Congress to work on an aid package for Ukraine. There they go again, folks – the Democrats are already trying to figure out how they can spend some more of our tax dollars.
In response to that – Russia’s agricultural oversight agency issued a statement declaring the reversal of its earlier decision to lift the ban on imports of U.S. pork. It said the existing U.S. system of checks don’t guarantee its safety.
In other words, they’d rather we send it to Ukraine.
Putin’s economic advisor said that Russia could develop financial ties with other nations to offset any potential Western sanctions. In other words, you can put your sanctions in place – we can survive without your help.
