As the end of 2013 approaches, it seems like a very appropriate time to publicly recognize over 600 of our citizens who are part of seven different specialized volunteer programs that we have here in Columbia County.
It takes very special people to come forward and give their personal time to go through meticulous training programs to learn various skills and then continuously provide their services at no cost to make our community and safer place to live.
So, thank you members of the Community Emergency Response Team, Dive Rescue & Recovery Team, Mobile Operations Center Team, Damage Assessment Team, Volunteer Reception Center Team, Points of Dispensing Team and Amateur Radio Operators for always being there and giving your time, expertise, skill and knowledge in times of need.
Each and every one of you is a valuable asset to the community and we are all grateful for your service, as is my wonderful EMA staff, Rusty Welsh and Suzie Hughes, who help make the ongoing training programs possible.
Thank you all so very much and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Pam Tucker, Director
