Corps should keep flood plan open to public review

So, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants to restrict the public’s access to the Emergency Evacuation Plan for Dam Failure and Flooding that shows which neighborhoods would flood in the unlikely event that Clarks Hill Dam would fail.

This information should continue to be available on the Columbia County Web site and updated accordingly. I encourage every resident of Columbia County to take the time to view it.

Why should we demand that this information continue to be made public and updated? Simply, because it is the same public who paid for the study: the U.S. taxpayer. And, we are the ones who need to gain knowledge about where we want to live.

Shame on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for trying to dictate to those of us who pay their salary and for making us believe we are living in a socialistic state.
