Columbia County Cares is involved in two very successful special events. On Sept. 29 we had our 14th Annual Family Spaghetti Dinner and Carry Out. On Nov. 21, the Garlic Clove, Chef Jeff Freehof and sponsors will put on the 11th Annual Italian Thanksgiving Feast for us and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
We here at Columbia County Cares are very blessed to be in Columbia County and have so many wonderful supporters. At this time of the year when people are thinking about giving thanks, Columbia County Cares has much for which to be thankful. We would like to thank all our volunteers, who without their help Columbia County Cares would not be able to perform our ministry. We have been blessed with the best volunteers in the world.
This year’s spaghetti dinner made us more than $6,000, thanks to our many corporate sponsors and the patrons of the dinner. The dinner was held at St. Teresa’s of Avila Roman Catholic Church by the Knights of Columbus. We are very thankful to the parish, our volunteers and the Knights of Columbus for their help in facility setup and in cooking and serving the meal.
The 11th Annual Italian Thanksgiving Feast takes place on Nov. 21. It is always a very fun event. We are very thankful to Chef Jeff and his whole staff and to Pam Tucker for her assistance in planning the event. There are many local celebrities and county officials who donate their time to be servers at the event who we want to thank. Last year’s event made almost $4,000, which was split between us and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Overall, this has been a very busy year for Columbia County Cares. We now are serving an average of 490 families a month. We would not be able to do this without the many volunteers, generous people, churches, organizations, businesses and schools who have helped us in so many ways over the past year.
Thank you and God bless you all for your support.
