College night

CRSA College Night will be held from 5 - 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14 at the James Brown Arena in downtown Augusta. Designed primarily for 11th- and 12th-graders, CSRA College Night provides an opportunity for students, parents and guidance counselors to learn about education opportunities. More than 140 engineering universities and liberal arts colleges/universities from across the United States attend as well as professional societies. Guitar lessons

The Harlem Arts Council presents Guitar lessons with Jeff Jordan 2:30 - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Harlem Civic Center. Classes for beginner to moderate guitar experience. Have fun, learn a song and how to read music.

Civil War Roundtable

The monthly meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of Augusta will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 18, Goodwill's Snelling Center, 3165 Washington Road, Augusta. James I. "Bud" Robertson is alumni distinguished professor emeritus at Virginia Tech and author of Stonewall Jackson: The Man, The Soldier, The Legend, the definitive biography of Jackson and the basis for the movie Gods and Generals. He is the recipient of every major award given in the Civil War field, a lecturer of national acclaim and a collaborator with National Geographic on Civil War publications. Parent Resource Night

The Columbia County School District Special Services Department is hosting Parent Resource Night from 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Evans Elementary.

The event will include a whole group opening session before parents and students will be able to choose from a variety of learning sessions from 6:20-7 p.m. There will be activities for children sponsored by high school buddy clubs, occupational therapy students from Augusta University and staff from the Columbia County School District.

Spaghetti supper fundraiser

The Columbia County Cares Food Pantry will hold its 20th annual family Spaghetti Supper from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church located at 4921 Columbia Road in Grovetown. Dine in or carry out spaghetti dinner including salad, drink and dessert. Tickets are $8 each or $25 for four tickets. Proceeds benefit the county's food pantry. Fishing Derby and shooting day

Fort Gordon Kid's Fishing Derby and Shooting Day 2017 will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23 at Clay Pit Lakes. Event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Claypit Lakes, fishing will begin at 8 a.m.. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in each age group.

The first 300 kids will receive Free T-shirts. Free hot dogs and sodas will be available to each participant. Kids need to bring their own fishing pole (limit of one fishing pole per child). Kid's Shooting Day at the Range 23 September 1-5 p.m. Range 14 Come for an instructional and recreational shooting class. An adult must accompany the kids while on the range.

We will offer instruction for Archery, Skeet and Trap and Known Distance Shooting. For more information, call (706) 791-5078.

Memorial golf tournament

The Marvin United Methodist Women and Mikey Foundation present the annual Bill DaVitte Golf Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 23 at Gordon Lakes Gold Club. The event is in need of sponsors and teams. The Harlem Arts Council presents The Basics of Making an Oilcloth Rug with Angelika Bondar, from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 23. Starting small, with a place-mat size creation, participants will then be able to work on a larger piece either by yourself or with a more advanced workshop; Cost is $50 and includes all materials. Pumpkin patch

The Marvin Corner Pumpkin Patch will be open Saturday at noon, Oct. 7 until Oct. 31. Pumpkins, gourds, mums and bales of straw for sale to support missions and community outreach. Family friendly 5k

FireK17 will take place at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7 at Lady A Amphitheater in Evans. The FireK17 is a family friendly 5K (3-mile) run with a fun run, inflatables, music and more. Held during Fire Safety Month, firefighters will also compete by running in their bunker gear for bragging rights and a trophy; proceeds will benefit FireKFiveK, a nonprofit corporation that raises money for firefighters or the families of firefighters who are battling cancer; www.firekfivek.com

Ladies Night Out

Harlem's 2nd Annual Ladies Night Out will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21. Ladies are invited to gather for a fun night out filled with music, food, and friends, all while exploring Harlem's downtown district and meeting local business owners. Pick up your passport and map at Grimaud-Reeves Realty and take a stroll through Harlem, visiting merchants and vendors. At each stop, enjoy an appetizer and drinks. Then, make your way to Red Oak Manor to end the night with raffle prizes and live music by Jason White. The event is free and open to the public.

Foster parents
