Membership 101

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will hold Membership 101 court 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the chamber, 1000 Business Blvd. If you are a new chamber member or just want a refresher course, plan to attend the Membership 101 class. Members only.

Craft chat

The Columbia County Evans Branch library presents Fiber Arts Craft and Chat at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3. Low-key crafting meet-up that's open to people who want to learn as well as those already crafty, this group meets the first Thursday of each month in the cafe area. The group is open to all crafters: crochet, knit, cross stitch, etc.
Computer workshop

The Columbia County Harlem Library branch presents Beginner Computer Boot Camp at 10 a.m., Wed., Aug. 3. Learn the basics of Windows including parts of the computer, using the mouse, saving to a USB flash drive, and basic computer maintenance. Registration is required.
Grovetown Elementary dedication

The dedication ceremony of the new Grovetown Elementary School will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the school, 300 Ford Ave. in Grovetown.

Dinner Theater

Fort Gordon Dinner Theater presents Don't Dress for Dinner at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4, Saturday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 10, on Fort Gordon, Building 32100, 3rd Ave. Comedy by Marc Camoletti.

Sensory Class

The Columbia County Evans branch library presents Sensory Class at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4. Interactive stories, games, songs and activities. Children and caregivers of all abilities welcome, though recommended for ages 3 and up. Registration is required. Call (706)-863-1946 or visit the children's desk to reserve a spot.

Bring toppings

The Columbia County Euchee Creek Library branch presents Super Novas at 4:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7. Registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 4. Registration required. Sign up to bring your favorite toppings to add to your homemade ice cream.
Kids fest

Columbia County Community Events presents KidsFest at Evans Towne Center Park at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. It is the largest hands-on, creative festival in the CSRA, with more than 100,000 square feet of fun.

Back to School Bash

The Rosemont Baptist Association will host a community back-to-school event from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Rosemont Association Building, 5463 Burks Mountain Road in Appling. There will be barbers and hairstylists giving complimentary basic haircuts, styles and nail-polishing services to children ages 5-16 years old. The Columbia County Sheriff's Department will be onsite to do fingerprinting and identification cards for children. Also, a seamstress will do basic alterations for kids clothing onsite. Refreshments, games and school supplies will be provided.

GreenJackets Community night

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Augusta GreenJackets will hold a Columbia County Community Night at Lake Olmstead Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8. Beverage prices will be half price during the game. Contact Tom Denlinger at (706) 736-7889 for package deals.

Painting party

Paint Me Pretty painting parties will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 11, (registration deadline, Aug. 9), at Hilltop Riding Stables on Fort Gordon, at 805 Range Road. Open to the public. Republican women

The Columbia County Republican Women's Meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, at Formosa's II Chinese Restaurant in Martinez. Teen book club

The Columbia County Library Harlem branch will hold a Factionless Fun Teen Book Club at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10. Group will discuss teen books and movies and make a fun craft.

Adoption event

The Dog Networking Agency Inc. will hold an adoption event at the Columbia County Animal Services Department 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

The Grovetown Farmer's Market will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Goodale Park.

Before Hours

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce presents: Chamber Before Hours 7:45-9 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 1000 Business Blvd. Free for members and $20 for first-time visitors. Topic: "Recruitment Panel - From Application to Retention." Panel consists of representatives from Augusta Staffing, Spherion, and Sizemore.

Financial planning class

The Columbia County Evans branch library presents Estate Planning and Elder Care at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18. Hear legal strategies to protect your family and estate including: wills & trusts, estate planning, probate avoidance, powers of attorney, Medicaid and VA planning and the VA Aid & Attendance Benefit.
Woodturners meeting

The Savannah River Woodturners will hold its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Savannah River Woodturner Club Shop, 144 N. Belair Road in Evans. Civil War Roundtable

The monthly meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of Augusta will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 21, Goodwill's Snelling Center, 3165 Washington Road, Augusta. Brian Jordan, assistant professor of history at Sam Houston State University, is the author of Marching Home: Union Veterans and their Unending Civil War, a history of the men who won the war but could not bear the peace. The book was a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in History and won the George Washington Egleston Prize for best U.S. history dissertation at Yale. Sheriff's Office meet

The Columbia County Evans branch library presents Columbia County Sheriff's Office visit at 11 a.m., Wed., Aug. 30. Visit with the community service division of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office to hear about what police officers do. Located in the children's classroom. No registration. This event will be held in place of preschool class.
Executive Luncheon

Columbia County Chamber of Commerce presents an executive luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. "Be Where Your Feet Are ... Mastering the Moment." Executive Luncheon Series presented by Augusta University. Cost: member $35, nonmembers $45, corporate tables (8 seats): $280.

Camera class

The Columbia County Evans Branch Library presents Camera part I - Out of the Box at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6. Learn the basics of using a digital camera including "What is a Megapixel?" Learn the different types of cameras and memory cards, as well as the basics of photography.

Clint Black

Columbia County Community Events presents An Evening with Clint Black at Evans Towne Center Park in Evans at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14.
