Doodle hour

The Columbia County library in Evans will hold a doodle hour beginning at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 3. This is the new popular stress reliever for adults to come and enjoy a relaxing hour of coloring

Boom in the park

Columbia County will hold Boom in the Park from 6-11 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Evans Towne Center Park. Event will feature water slides, water balloon field, live musical entertainment and fireworks beginning at dusk. Independence Day BBQ

Grovetown will hold its 31st annual 4th of July Barbeque from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 4 at Liberty Park. Guests will enjoy free BBQ and live entertainment and karaoke. Planning commission

The Columbia County Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 6 in the Evans auditorium A on Ronald Reagan Drive. Agendas can be found online at columbiacountyga.gov

Farmer's Market

The Grovetown Farmer's Market will be held Saturday, July 8 at Grovetown City Hall. The Farmer's Market is held the second Saturday of every month.

Couponing

The Euchee Creek library will hold a Keep Calm and Coupon On group at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8. If you have always wanted to coupon, but feel that is too hard a task, this class is designed for you.

Gurls' Night Out

Gurl's Night Out with Gretchen Wilson begins at 6:30 p.m. July 7 at the Columbia County Amphitheater in Evans. Tickets are $25; $40 for VIP; www.gurlsnightout.com.

The Main Event

County committee meetings

The Management and Internal Services committee/development and engineering services committee will meet at from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 11 at the Evans Government Complex Center building auditorium. The committees meet the second Tuesday of every month.

Republican Women's Meeting

The Columbia County Republican Women's group welcomes Rep. Jodi Lott to the next meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 13 at Formosa's II Chinese Restaurant in Martinez. Democratic party meeting

The next Columbia County Democratic Party public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 10, at the Columbia County Government Complex, Building A, at 630 Ronald Reagan Dr. Refreshments will be served and guests will have the opportunity to speak with committee chairs and other members.

Crafternoon

The Harlem library will hold a crafternoon at 3 p.m., July 11 where children can learn how to make their own slime. Pre-registration required for this event.

Rock painting

The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold a children's rock painting class at 2 p.m., July 12 for children ages 5 - 10. Learn how to have fun painting rocks. Pre-registration required.

Crochet washcloth

The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold at crochet stitch washcloth class at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13. Pre-registration required.

Triathalon park series

Tri the Parks - Mistletoe State Park will be held in Appling on July 15. The Mistletoe State Park race is part of the Tri the Parks series. Participants will swim 600 meters in Clarks Hill Lake, bike 11.8 miles outside of the park over hills, and run 5k. The race also features a duathlon and aquabike option; www.GaStateParks.org.

Wine & Concert series

Candlelight Wine & Dine Concert Series begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15 at the Columbia County Amphitheater.

Candlelight Wine & Dine, a new addition to the Augusta River Region, is a celebration of music and community. Bring your own seating and picnic and enjoy jazz, soul, R&B, spoken word, rock, funk and gospel music and live art demos.

Youth choir celebration

Civil War Roundtable

Fly fishing for veterans

The Augusta Program of Project Healing Waters has scheduled a fly fishing outing on Fort Gordon with a group from the Augusta VA medical center on the morning of July 21 at Fort Gordon. Volunteers are needed to help teach basic fly fishing techniques to disabled vets as well as assist with regular outing functions, such as set-up and sign-in sheets.

The Euchee Creek Library will hold a baby and me class at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 25. Children 0-2 years old can bring their adult and enjoy a time of stories, singing, fingerplays, and more interaction

The Columbia County public works services committee and the community and emergency services committees will met from 8:30 - 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 25 at the Evans Government Center Building Auditorium. These committee meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Augusta Aglow

The Augusta Aglow meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Spring Lakes Clubhouse located at 104 Spring Lakes Drive in Martinez. The guest speaker will be Pat Mahoney. Aglow meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the every month at 10 a.m.

Open sewing

The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold open sewing hour at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 25. Have a sewing project and need to use a sewing machine? Come in and use ours to work on your project

Quilt class

The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold a block of the month quilting class at 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 25. Learn how to make a log cabin quilt. Make a square a month for a year and at the end put the squares all together to make a lap size quilt. Registration is required due to limited class size

Adult rock painting

The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold an adult rock painting class beginning at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 26. Pre-registration required for this class

Lunch and Learn

The Columbia County Library will hold Environment Matters Lunch and Learn at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 26. Join Eco-Lady, Margarete Alligood and a featured speaker for valuable eco-gardening and lawn care tips. Bring your brown bag lunch on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to the cafe area at the Library. Prizes will be awarded for those attending five or more sessions. The Columbia County library Harlem branch will hold a Factionless Fun Teen Book Club at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10. Group will discuss popular teen books and movies as well as make a fun craft.

Pawprints Foundation and Long Dog Rescue are accepting donations of dog, cat, puppy and kitten food year-round at Animal House, Wild Birds Unlimited, Grovetown Farm & Garden, Vineyard Wine Market and Martinez/National Hills Animal Hospitals.
