Easter basket donations needed

Columbia County Cares food pantry is collecting Easter baskets for children 12 and under in our client families. Baskets can be either store-bought or handmade. If the basket contains toys, please mark them Boy, Girl or Either. Baskets may contain religious material. Drop baskets off at Columbia County Cares, 1959 Appling-Harlem Hwy., Appling, Ga., or call (706) 541-2834 and we will pick them up. In 2016, we provided 150 baskets, thanks to the generosity of Columbia County.

Pottery class

Harlem Arts Council presents Pottery with Angelika Bondar, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays March 8, 15, 22 and 29, 175 N. Louisville St., Harlem. Learn how to make pottery using only your hands with various techniques. No experience needed. For beginners, but advanced enough for those who have worked with clay. Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office will hold a free Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy 6:30-9 p.m., Thursdays, beginning March 9 for 10 weeks. Open to county residents 18 years and older. County Republican women's meeting

Columbia County Republican Women will meet Thursday at Formosa's II Chinese Restaurant, 3830 Washington Road A-36, Martinez. Guitar lessons

Japanese weaving

Harlem Arts Council presents Kumihimo with Ulriche Beck 10 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday March 18 and April 1, 175 N. Louisville St., Harlem. Learn an ancient Japanese weave to make a bracelet. Kumihimo was prominently used by Samurai, but are now used as ties on a traditional obi (kimono sash). Minimum 2 students.
