Oil painting classes
Harlem Arts Council presents Oil Painting with Minette Hatcher on Monday, Feb. 20 and 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $20 per class, which will be held at 175 N. Louisville St. in Harlem. Search and Rescue
Junior rangers will take place at Mistleto State Park from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 20. Cost is $20 per child plus $5 parking, lunch not included. Junior Rangers will learn about different strategies that are helpful in preventing or moderating a search and rescue situation such as trip planning and map reading skills. Then, children will watch a powerful search and rescue tool in action with a K-9 demonstration from the Columbia Co. Sheriff's Office. Registration required. Civil War Roundtable
The monthly meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of Augusta will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. Len Reidel, the executive director of the Blue and Gray Education Society, will present on Civil War Battlefield Tours. A retired Air Force officer, he is the architect of the society's programming and of considerable preservation accomplishments. Cost is $15 and includes dinner. Artists Guild of Columbia County presents children's drawing and painting 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 22 and March 1 at Church of our Savior, located at 4227 Columbia Road. Classes are for children ages 7-12 years old. Classes cost $80 for four-week sessions. Students will learn to draw from life using different drawing, coloring and painting media. Students who began the drawing class during a previous month may continue taking the class but will be taught additional advanced techniques which they can apply to the skills already learned. Conlee to perform
Country legend John Conlee, a regular performer at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn., will perform at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, at Jabez S. Hardin Performing Arts Center in Evans. Conlee recently celebrated the 38th anniversary of his breakthrough hit Rose-Colored Glasses and can be found on tour throughout 2017 and on the stage of the Opry, where he has been a member since 1981. The monthly meeting of the CSRA Republican Women's Club is set for Monday, Feb. 27.
