Choir concert

The internationally renowned St. Olaf Choir and Conductor Anton Armstrong present a concert at St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St., Augusta, at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11. The concert will feature sacred and secular masterpieces, as well as music for chorus and grand pipe organ. Design contest

Augusta Technical College is encouraging all area elementary, middle and high school students to particpate in the 2014 Annual Manufacturing Appreciation Week student design competition. Artwork submitted must depict the importance of manufacturing in the student’s life or community.

Exercise class

Republican meeting

The Columbia County Republican Party will hold a breakfast meeting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at The Garlic Clove, 4534 Washington Road, Evans. The guest speakers are State Rep. Barry Fleming and Nancy Gay from the Columbia County Board of Elections. Breakfast is $8.

Parkinson’s group

The Augusta Archaeological Society will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Big Daddy’s Bar and Grill, 4045 Jimmie Dyes Parkway. Archaeologist Kara Bridgman Sweeney will discuss the typology of Early Archaic side notched projectile points and Edgefield Scrapers.

Benefit concert

A benefit concert for the 2015 St. Paul’s Choir Trip to Canada and New England will be presented by Sho Ane Seaton, Soprano; Richard Cook, Tenor and Pianist; Taylor Massey, Clarinet; Vonda Darr, Harp; and Keith Shafer, Pianist; on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. The program will be held at St. Paul’s Church, Sixth and Reynolds at the Riverwalk in downtown Augusta. Admission is free but donations in support of the choir trip will be accepted. The trip is scheduled for June 2015, begins in Montreal and ends in Boston, where the group will sing at Old North Church.
