Tree recycling

Awakening faith

Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, will be offering an 11-week program of faith renewal entitled Awakening Faith. This is a conversation-based program that gives inactive or marginally active Catholics a forum where they reconnect with their faith. Topics include individual spirituality, the Trinity, Mass, forgiveness, faith, love and marriage to name a few. Pageant announced

The 2014 Miss Augusta and Miss Savannah River Pageant will be held at Greenbrier High School on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 pm. The competition will feature swimwear, evening, talent and on-stage questions. The winners will represent our community at the 2014 Miss Georgia pageant in Columbus, Ga. in June.

Alzheimer’s education

The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a three part educational series specifically designed to target the needs of early- stage Alzheimer’s caregivers. The Living With Alzheimer’s: for Caregivers– Early-Stage, will be held on Tuesdays Jan. 14, 21 and 28, 2-3:30 p.m. at the Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Drive, Suite A, Evans. It will highlight the special needs and concerns of Alzheimer’s caregivers in the earliest stage of diagnosis. During the program, the Alzheimer’s Association will provide insight on topics such as the meaning of the diagnosis, planning for the future, available resources, and how you can help a family suffering from this disease.

Republican women

Greater Columbia County Republican Women will meet Thursday, Jan. 9, at Be My Guest Catering and Events, 4216 Washington Road, Evans. The guest speaker is Dr. Linda Tucciarone, Executive Director of Heritage Academy. GCCRW also will elect a new officers to lead 2014-2015 term. Social and dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. The $12 buffet dinner also includes coffee, iced tea and dessert. Mosaic United Methodist Church’s Celebrate Recovery program holds weekly sessions at the church, 678 Columbia Industrial Blvd., Evans.
