Holiday parade

The 2013 Martinez-Evans Christmas Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 1. This year there will be prize money for the Best Overall, Chairman’s Award and first place in each of the four categories. Applications can be found online at www.columbiacountyfair.net. The deadline for entries is Monday, Nov. 18.

Writers meeting

The CSRA Writers Group will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Georgia Military College on Davis Road. Visitors are welcome. If you have something to be critiqued, bring eight copies of up to 10 pages. For more information call Steve Fox at (706) 836-7315.

Civil War

The Civil War Round Table of Augusta will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at The Snelling Center of The Goodwill Center, Washington Road at Furys Ferry Road in Augusta. Club meeting

The Sierra Club will meet at 6: 30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3501 Walton Way Ext. The program will feature a presentation on Iceland’s world-famous Laugavegur Trail which was recently hiked by Outings Chairwoman Cathy Black. Meetings are open to the public, no charge. The Lydia Project, a free outreach for women coping with cancer, is looking for volunteers. Addiction help

Mosaic United Methodist Church’s Celebrate Recovery program holds weekly sessions at the church, 678 Columbia Industrial Blvd., Evans. Leah museum

The Leah High School and Community Museum, located at the Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue station at 3653 Ray Owens Road in Appling, will open on the second Sunday of each month, or Tuesdays by appointment. Donations of archival and historical material are being sought. Call (706) 541-0043.
