Harlem High reunion

The Harlem High School Class of 1997 will hold its 20 Year Reunion from 7 - 11 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Hyatt Place Augusta Hotel. Deadline to buy tickets is Sept. 1. Event will include DJ, heavy appetizers, a cash bar and a photo booth. Citizens review panel

A Transportation Investment Act Citizens Review Panel will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Harlem Public Safety building located at 110 W. Milledgeville Road. The City of Harlem is hosting the CSRA Region Transportation Investment Act Citizen Review Panel.

Book Club

The Columbia County Euchee Creek Library branch presents On the Same Page Book Club at 10:30 a.m., Thursday. The club will discuss 438 Days by Jonathan Franklin. Join our discussion of this tale of human determination to survive the odds.

The Columbia County Evans branch library presents Gadget Help with Alex at 5:30 p.m., Thursday. Drop by to get individual help with electronic gadgets. First come, first serve; no appointment necessary.

Networking for Leads

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce presents "Networking for Leads" from 3 - 4 p.m., Thursday at the chamber located at 1000 Business Blvd. The program will consist of a round table activity which will be followed up by an optional lunch connection, based on appropriate matching, to further enhance the leads experience. Only one participant from each company allowed; event for members only.

Groundbreaking

The City of Grovetown will conduct a ground breaking ceremony for their new $23 million Wastewater Treatment Plant at 3 p.m., Thursday at 1500 Lakeview Drive, adjacent to the current treatment plant in Grovetown, at 2:30 p.m.

Egypt cultural day

The Egypt's Cultural Day 2017 will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday at the Islamic Community Center located at 465 Old Evans Rd. in Martinez. The free event is open to the public. Things visitors will learn about include ancient Egypt, modern Egypt, tourist sites and much more. Taste Egyptian food and beverages, get Henna hand paintings, purchase Egpytian souvenirs and much more.

Boxing national qualifier

The Sugar Bert Boxing Title Belt National Qualifier will be held Friday through Sunday at the Columbia County Exhibition Center, located at 212 Partnership Drive, in Grovetown. The three-day event will feature hundreds of boxers of all ages from around the country and the Caribbean competing for a chance to advance to the Sugar Bert Boxing Title Belt National Championship in November. Notables include Myles Mizell, Evan Holyfield and Logan Burns. Tournament entry fee is $20 for walk-in boxers, and $15 for boxers who pre-register online. General admission tickets start at $10. Mother/Son Ball

The RK Education Foundation and the Proud Parent Foundation presents the inaugural Mother, Son Ball at 6 p.m., Saturday at Liberty Park Community Center in Grovetown. The event highlights the importance of building sons through education, love and a strong foundation of parenting. The event will include dinner, dancing, door prizes and Best Dressed Mother/Son Contest. Special guests will include: Maurice Johnson (Actor/Augusta Native) as the emcee of the evening and Rev. Duck Derby

The inaugural Columbia County Rubber Duck Derby benefitting the United Way will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the Savannah Rapids Pavillion. Donate $5 for one duck, $25 for six ducks, $100 for a flock of 24 ducks or $1,000 for a diamond duck pack of 240 ducks. The donated ducks will be released in a mass duck release. Republican women's club

The CSRA Republican Women's Club Monthly Meeting, social and dinner will begin at 6 p.m., Monday at Jones Creek Clubhouse located at 777 Jones Creek Drive in Evans. Sheriff's Office meet

The Columbia County Evans branch library presents Columbia County Sheriff's Office visit at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30. Visit with the community service division of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office to hear about what police officers do. Located in the children's classroom. No registration. This event will be held in place of preschool class.
Executive Luncheon

Columbia County Chamber of Commerce presents an executive luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. "Be Where Your Feet Are ... Mastering the Moment." Camera class

The Columbia County Evans Branch Library presents Camera part I - Out of the Box at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6. Learn the basics of using a digital camera including "What is a Megapixel?" Learn the different types of cameras and memory cards, as well as the basics of photography.

Deer hunting seminar

The Fort Gordon Deer Hunting Seminar will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex. Open to the public for a day of learning at the 2017 Deer Hunting Seminar. Outdoor Recreation will be covering deer calls, food sources, safety as well as ethics. Music Festival

The Diggin' It Music Festival benefitting the Augusta Christian Volleyball Team will be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Columbia County Amphitheater in Evans. Tunnel 2 Towers 5k

Greater Augusta Tunnel 2 Towers Run/Walk will be held at 8:46 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9 at Firestation No. 2 at 5555 Harlem Grovetown Road. The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. The event is 2.75 miles, in order to facilitate the significance of starting and ending at the Fire Station. Participants are welcome to walk or run this event. This event is a non-competitive run to honor first responders and raise funds to build smart homes for the most catastrophically injured service members. This event is not chip timed.
