Jersey Boys, the tale of four blue-collar kids from New Jersey, who hit it big with songs such as Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry and My Eyes Adored You, will be at Augusta’s Bell Auditorium in December with eight shows.

On Aug. 13, Miguel Jarquin-Moreland, who has been playing the role of Frankie Valli for three years in Jersey Boys and will headline the Augusta performances, gave patrons a taste of the show, at a Broadway at the Bell season kickoff party at Taylor BMW in Evans, as he sang Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You and signed a few autographs.

“The melodies are timeless,” said Jarquin-Moreland, who often finds himself singing the tunes around the house. “The songs are simple and catchy.”

Also at the kickoff event, organizers played a video featuring an interview with Frankie Valli and snippets from the show which highlights the band’s music as well as the lives of the men who formed the group. Jersey Boys received several Tony Awards in 2006 including for best new musical.

Typically, the Broadway at the Bell series brings in a show for one night only; however, this season, Jersey Boys will play five nights and eight shows. Other shows in the season include Cirque Dreams Holidaze on Nov. 20, Annie on Jan. 6, Million Dollar Quartet on March 2 and 42nd Street on May 2.

Taylor BMW has been a season sponsor for several years.

“It’s an exciting season, and this is a great opportunity for us and Augusta with entertainment of this quality,” said Ed Luckey, Taylor BMW general manager.

Currently, season tickets are on sale giving season ticket holders a discount.

Individual tickets for Jersey Boys, which will run Dec. 8-13, should be available in mid-September said Chris Bird, general manager of Spectra Venue Management, which operates the Bell Auditorium.
