Class of 2017

Columbus State University’s fall 2013 semester and Class of 2017: Dana Lavalley, of Martinez, plans to major in music performance; De’marcus Monroe, of Augusta, plans to major in theatre arts; Rebekah Newsome, of Grovetown, plans to major in pre-Nursing; Gregory Pitts, of Harlem, plans to major in theatre arts; Kristin Rawlins, of Appling, plans to major in general studies/AS.

2013 Summer Honors

Georgia Southern University President’s List: Michael Bailey majoring in Sociology from Evans, and Brittany Ufret majoring in Exercise Science from Martinez.

The University of North Georgia Merit list: Carolyn Gage Calloway, of Evans.

Carley Flores, a graduate of Evans High School, has been named in the Top 100 Freshmen at the University of North Georgia, who were honored recently with an invitation to UNG President Bonita Jacobs’ house for a reception. The freshmen are chosen based on their freshman index score, a combination of high school GPA and their score on the SAT or ACT.

Paula Karmin of Evans, a graduate student pursuing a master of music education and Emily Sitton of Augusta, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor in church music, were named to the Bob Jones University’s Chamber String Orchestra, one of two orchestras at BJU.

2013 Fall Graduates

Mary Kate Lollar, of Appling, received a bachelor of science in education degree from Shorter University on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

Cortney Bartow of Martinez, recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Bartow earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in writing with a minor in creative writing.

Georgia College awards degrees to the graduating class of December 2013: Katherine Caviston of Grovetown; Katie Jackson of Grovetown; Frederick Grumman of Martinez; Kenneth Weidner of Martinez; Danielle Mullen of Evans; Brianna Murphy of Harlem.

Kimberly Jackson from Grovetown, graduated with a master of public administration in nonprofit organizations emphasis in October, 2013, from Upper Iowa University.

Armstrong Atlantic State University awards degrees to the graduating class on Saturday, December 7, 2013: Christopher Harrell, from Evans, earned a bachelor of science in nursing with a major in nursing; Jacob Tilton, from Evans, earned a bachelor of liberal studies with a major in liberal studies; Talitha Calhoun, from Grovetown, earned a bachelor of arts with a major in psychology BA.

Valdosta State University has announced the names of students from Fall 2013 who have met all qualifications for graduation from the local area: Laura Andrews of Evans, education specialist, curriculum and instruction; Valerie Lawrence of Evans, bachelor of science, nursing; Justin Thompson of Martinez, bachelor of science, nursing; Steffany Weathers of Martinez, bachelor of arts, sociology & anthropology; Janisha Ross of Augusta, bachelor of fine arts, speech communication.

Jarrett East-Brown of Evans was among Carson-Newman University’s December 2013 graduating class. East-Brown graduated with a bachelor of arts in communications - radio, television and film.

2013 Fall Honors

Kelly E. Bain of Evans, was recently honored with the U.S. Army Scholarship at Southern College of Optometry. The award recognizes an optometry student demonstrating excellent promise in his or her studies. Bain is the daughter of Larry and Judy Bain, and is a graduate of the University of Georgia.

Armstrong Atlantic State University Dean’s List: Derrick Brown, Information Technology major from Evans.
