Mistletoe State Park will host their first Summer Beach Party later this month, with a special volleyball challenge for teams of five to seven individuals.
“Families can be combined to make teams of five or seven,” said assistant park manager Carol Alles. “We just don’t want teams any larger than seven.”
The registration cost for each team is just $5, with the winning team being awarded a grand prize of a free picnic shelter for a future reservation at the park. Additional prizes will be awarded throughout the program.
Park officials want to emphasize that the volleyball challenge is geared toward teens and adults.
“I hope to have at least 10 teams registered for the event,” said Alles. “We will also have activities for people who are not on a team.”
Among additional activities planned for the day are paddleboard demonstrations and rentals.
Paddleboard rentals will be $7. Recreational games such as corn hole and ladder golf will also be set up. Visitors can go swimming, as well.
The deadline to register for a volleyball team is June 14.
Teams may call the office at (706) 541-0321 or stop by the park office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to register. The challenge will be held in the beach area of the park.
“Being that June 21st is the first day of summer we thought beach volleyball would be a great way to celebrate the season with a little sun and a little sand,” said Alles.
“This program is a way for friends to get outdoors and have some fun together.”
A nature hike is planned for June 7 from 10 a.m. until noon. Again, this program is geared towards teens and adults.
